Graduation 2016

The DCU in the Community Graduation ceremony was held on 13th July, Wednesday at the Mentoring Suite in DCU Library, celebrating the achievement of students who completed a range of courses in our Shangan Road centre.

 

Bridge to Education (college preparation programme)

The course is accredited by QQI at Level 5 with 3 component awards in Communications, Research & Study Skills and Personal & Professional Development. It is designed for mature students giving serious consideration to returning to full-time further and higher education. Over 30 learners participated in the programme in academic year 2015/2016.

We are delighted to see many graduates progressing to higher education at Dublin City University, Maynooth University, and Blanchardstown Institute of Technology, to further education at Dunboyne, Killester and Liberties College, as well as to full-time access programmes at Trinity College and Dublin Institute of Technology.

 

 Creative Digital Media iMac

This course was designed for those interested in developing their digital media skills, and who wished to gain knowledge of using applications for creating and editing audio-visual materials, such as slideshows, movies and websites. Participants had the opportunity to work on a projects including writing scripts, creating story boards, shooting videos, and taking photographs. In the academic year 2016/2017 over 30 students participated in the courses, many of whom are employees of local community organisations, e.g. BRYR, Ballymun Communications, Poppintree Youth Project and many others.

 

Other programmes delivered at DCU in the Community in the academic year 2015/2016 included Boxing Clever (progressive rehabilitation & adult education programme, co-delivered in partnership with HSE RIS, DCC, Ballymun Youth Action Project and Urrus) and the Summer School.
